I (Liane) started WISEMAN + CROMWELL in 2015 as a part-time vintage seller, hustling unique vintage finds at local craft shows and antique markets. Although still relatively new to the scene, the business has grown to include a small showroom space at 548 Gladstone Ave in Ottawa, ON, staging, and design services. I am very grateful to be able to fuel my passion for vintage, thrifting, and interior design through WISEMAN + CROMWELL. My favourite styles right now are traditional, mid-century modern, and art deco. I especially love the role of connecting a person to the past through the visual presentations of furniture and housewares. The name of the shop comes from the two streets where all of this got started.
Q. Where do you ship?
A. For all items except furniture and extra heavy or large items we ship to Canada and the USA. Furniture is available for local delivery if you live within 50 km of the store (548 Gladstone Ave) for a charge of $80/load. All items can also be picked up from our store, free of charge, please enter code OTTAWAPICKUP at checkout to remove shipping fees. You can arrange to pick up your item using our online scheduler here.
Q. How long will it take to ship my item?
A. We pack and ship all items on Fridays. In most cases if you purchase something on Saturday, it will not be shipped until the Friday following. Once shipped you will receive an e-mail with tracking number. Expedited parcels take approximately 7 business days once shipped.
Q. What is your return policy?
A. Due to the unique nature of all of our products, we do not accept returns or exchanges. All sales are final. We do our best to indicate when there are any flaws with our items. Most items are 30-100 years old, so you should expect items to be in "vintage condition". We'd be happy to answer any questions regarding item condition through our e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q. Do you restore/re-upholster furniture?
A. We currently do not have the capacity to take on restoration projects or upholstery projects for your furniture but we will be happy to do any custom work on furniture purchased in the store.
Q. Do you buy?
A. Yes! If you are looking to sell furniture or small pieces please email email@example.com. We will pick up and pay cash for items that represent the look and style of WISEMAN + CROMWELL.
Q. Do you sell by commission?
A. If you've been to our shop, you'll see we are very limited in our sales space but we are open to doing sales by commission for special pieces. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Q. When will you have more regular store hours?
A. We're still working on this. We want to be able to provide the best selection of items and the best service when you visit us. Right now, the best solution is to be open by appointment. You can book an appointment up to one month in advance online. You can also purchase online and pick up in-store. If you are passing by and you see the lights on, feel free to drop in.
Q. Can I buy now and pick up in store?
A. Yes. When you check out, use code OTTAWAPICKUP. Then go to our scheduling page to book an appointment for pick up.
Q. Do you have more stock that is not posted online?
A. Yes. We have a lot of stock and sometimes its hard to keep track of it. If you see something online and you want to see it in person, please check with us before making an appointment, it may not be located at the store. In addition, if you are looking for something in particular and don't see it online, let us know, we may have something in storage.
Q. Do you do local delivery?
A. Yes. We deliver within 50km of our store (postal code K1R 5P3) for $80/load. For further distances, please enquire.
